The following observation was conducted by my Principal.
The feedback I received from my principal after this observation has helped me to work on improving in several areas. These areas include:
- Asking questions that will push my student's thinking deeper, requiring them to come up with reasons for their answers.
- Finding ways to have both my TA and I working with groups of students at the same time.
- Make sure that students understand the objective of the lesson before we start.
Observation 3 - 2018/19
The following observation was conducted by EY Coordinator.
The feedback from the EY Coordinator was very good to receive. It helped me to realize that a lot of what I am already doing in the classroom fits into the PYP framework. As an experienced teacher with no previous experience with the PYP, I was afraid that I would have to modify a lot of what I do to fit into this model. However, I am learning that establishing strong routines is good practice, and it has set me up for success in the PYP. The students know the classroom routines and it is easy for them to engage in the more free flowing activities that allow for inquiry into new concepts.
Observation 4 - 2018/19
The following observation was performed by the Grade 2 Team Lead.
The feedback from the grade 2 team lead helped me to address the ongoing concern about hallway procedures and rules. It seems that students need constant reminders about how they should behave in the hallway. I try to set down rules, but it seems that students only follow the rule when teachers are watching. In order to encourage better behavior I have tried to notice and praise the students who are doing a great job in this area.

The following was an observation was conducted by the Lower PYP Principal. He observed a lesson on how to use context clues to figure out tricky words.
