Parent Workshop

Building a strong and collaborative parent-teacher relationship is essential to a child’s success at school. Together we can do so much. I was excited to be a part of a team of parents and teachers who provided a workshop on how to make the most of parent-teacher relationships. By teaching parents how to use the 7 norms of collaboration, we hoped to provide parents with strategies to help them get the most out of this important relationship.

Womens Faculty Boxing Club

In a previous career, I was a personal trainer and kickboxing instructor. In a search for an activity I could do onsite, that would give me the cardio that my body needs, I revisited my kickboxing instructor days. I love boxing! It is tough, low impact, and fun, plus, I get to punch things. I decided to put out an invite to other women on the faculty who were having a hard time committing to a regular exercise program. The club is made up of a small group who get together each Tuesday at 5 pm to workout. The workout is only 30 minutes long, but it is tough. The women love it, they can relive their stress, feel supported in their fitness goals and just have fun punching and kicking a bag.
